Old song, title or artist

Hello all, a friend of mine is looking for a song that has the
following lyrics. " As I walked along in the country one day, at my
feet there fluttered a note. " The chorus contains the line, " If
anyone finds this, I love you. " I think it is from the fifties or
early sixties, but I don't know the gender of the singer. I hope this
is enough to go on, any help would be appreciated.

Well what do you know? My friend googled and discovered it was by Ruby
Murray 1954, and I discovered that I had it on her anthology cd set.
The title is "If anyone finds this I love you."
