It was till you arrived, clown.

Little Homeless Clown
Sign on the door read
enter at your own risk.
Too many times now betrayed
by the Judas kiss.
Baby rode by
in a brand new pickup truck.
She waved goodbye,
blew me a kiss for luck.
So I been out rambling
shambling
through the trailer park 'til dawn.
She was frozen in the hall
like headlines on a fawn.
Give me another run
before the sun goes down.
Give me another hit
my little homeless clown.
All alone in this
big old house again.
Harranged by all my
so-called friends.
Too late now
she's riding with the wind.
Just last week
she said she'd stick by me to the end.
Ain't no crystal ball
but I can
feel it in the back of my bones.
She got a sugar daddy
never coming home.
Give me another run
before the sun goes down.
Give me another hit
my little homeless clown.
Give me another run
before the sun goes down.
Give me another hit
my little homeless clown.
-Will Dockery ©2009
A listener pointed out that the important bridge verse of this was
left out:

"...Ah yes, glad you caught that bit, the bridge, which was written
slightly later than this was typed:

I could tell she was lonesome,
it just wasn't for me.
She's got a little hankering
to be a divorcee...

Thanks for reading. listening, commenting, and pointing that out for
me... one of my favorite parts to sing!"

Here's the words for the new Will Dockery-Brian Mallard song, "She
Sleeps Tight", and the link to the instrumental track, for the session
players to have a clue as to what to play and where to play it:

http://www.archive.org/details/SheSleepsTight

She Sleeps So Tight

Sleeps so tight
she has a marksman's eye.
Maker's mark
tattoo firewater spine.
Leather shoes
but nowhere to go.

Dice and coins
scattered in the snow.
Dice and coins
scattered in the snow.

Won't be long,
until I see her face.
She's waiting
in an undisclosed place.
I've been conspired
banned from my muse.

This won't stick
poor boy's all confused.
This won't stick
poor boy's all confused.

In Salem town
she keeps her chin so high.
Darkened breeze
she smiles as I roll by.
Step inside
she looks for tables left.

Wink at time
nothing lasts except yourself.
Wink at time
nothing lasts except yourself.

Like a Steamboat
she plans to roll on down.
To the Gulf
out of this dirty town.
Copper mesh
kept stuffed in a jar.

Sharp cold hit
turning wine to water.
Sharp cold hit
turning wine to water.

We know him
eye deed by his ship.
In a trap
a kind of goosechase trip.
Whiskey fumes
and stale gunsmoke.

Sunk and drowned
with all her knives and jokes.
Sunk and drowned
with all her knives and jokes.

Sleeps so tight
she has a marksman's eye.
Maker's mark
tattoo firewater spine.
Leather shoes
but nowhere to go.

(Last posting before the recording session tonight, this is what I'll take
in in about an hour for a vocal track. Any last-minute c&c would be
appreciated, and thanks to George Dance for his input and corrections -WD)

Miss Crenshaw

Little Victoria
stepped on a bumblebee,
near the sawmill millhouse.

Cousin Maxwell
saw it while sitting in a tree,
on the hill
across from Uncle Grouse.

Near the house of
Bullethead & Shorty...
Always late, never home,
they's a fighting,
they'll get home the best they can.
With some luck and
a Southern wind.

Shorty's chasing Bullethead
with a frying pan
full of chicken bones.

Jerked wire
someone tried to call the cops
on the telephone.

Sort of in the backyard
of the old waterpump house.
Near the canepatch,
Miss Crenshaw's creeping like a mouse.

She said some odd words,
seen them spit right out her mouth.

Everybody's watching television,
or Miss Crenshaw's hipshake.
She's a stroller in technicolor
up and down a dirt avenue
for goodness sake.

If you need a girl
you can converse...
She's a good listener
and she ain't quite loud!
But a looker in a crowd.

On a two stooler bike,
somebody easing down the path.

Near the house of
Bullethead & Shorty...
Working late at the mill again.
Scoop the sugar with cabbage,
wash it down with cold gin.

Never sure when the morning starts
or where it ends.

I recall a bit later,
when she shook her peaches for me.
Shady silver leaf maples,
and a lonesome persimmon tree.

Full moon and hay fever
schoolhouse looking like a Sphinx.
She's a sweetie,
her hair's like a chestnut minx.

Everybody's watching television,
or Miss Crenshaw's hipshake.
She's a stroller
up and down a dirt avenue.

If you need a girl
you can converse...
She's a good listener
and she ain't quite loud!
But a looker in a crowd.

Yes, I just put the poems out here for comment and critique, am gladd-
ass happy when I get some feedback, thank the commenter, and move on
to the next level... if he doesn't have anything else to add after the
initial post, it seems foolish for people like Orson to keep coming
back, but to each his own, I suppose.

This guy, Rick Roots, has a similarly annoying style of endlessly
whining about my poetry... if he doesn't like it, fine, I say they
should go write (or read) something they /do/ like. As I do on a daily
basis.

this lie again
--
PJR :-)
You accidentally snipped your lie, PJR, but good to see you come clean
and admit your lie:

Back on this lie again, eh, PJR?

One more time, the facts:

I wrote the poem "Karma Bombs", Michael Cook stole it word-for-word
and posted it to his website without my knowledge or permission. He
actually gave it back (this is archived), and the poem is, was and
will forever be "by Will Dockery".

Your defense of Cook's act of copyright abuse, poetry theft and (since
he left credit to me off his website posting, thus attempting to pass
the work off as his own), plagiarism is once again noted, and
interesting that you wrote this to Karla Rogers, who a year later
went
through akmost exactly the same situation possibly because Tom Bishop
saw that Michael Cook had done what he did to Karla's poem and nobody
here had a problem with it, and there you were defending and
applauding Cook's shenanigans.

So, basically, you're defending copyright abuse, plagiarism and poetry
theft every time you lie about the "Karma Bombs" situation.

Anyone who has watched you gargling your "lyrics" with a straight face knows
that you lack the sense of humour to find anything amusing.

Fortunately for you, being overweight and out of condition, it takes fewer

I'm listening to it now. There's a nice 60's vibe running through the
3 songs I've heard so far. I especially enjoyed hearing "She Sleeps
Tight" -- it had a pop sound that I was not expecting. Not that I
pretend to know what the main stream wants, but I think that it has
"airplay", if not "single," written all over it.

banned from my muse.
This won't stick
poor boy's all confused.
This won't stick
poor boy's all confused.
In Salem town
she keeps her chin so high.
Darkened breeze
she smiles as I roll by.
Step inside
she looks for tables left.
Wink at time
nothing lasts except yourself.
Wink at time
nothing lasts except yourself.
Like a Steamboat
she plans to roll on down.
To the Gulf
out of this dirty town.
Copper mesh
kept stuffed in a jar.
Sharp cold hit
turning wine to water.
Sharp cold hit
turning wine to water.
We know him
eye deed by his ship.
In a trap
a kind of goosechase trip.
Whiskey fumes
and stale gunsmoke.
Sunk and drowned
with all her knives and jokes.
Sunk and drowned
with all her knives and jokes.
Sleeps so tight
she has a marksman's eye.
Maker's mark
tattoo firewater spine.
Leather shoes

We just finished the new song last night, with guest vocals by Sandy
Madaris, now on the player at the "Will Dockery & Friends" SpaceFace
http://www.myspace.com/shadowvilleallstars
I'm listening to it now. There's a nice 60's vibe running through the
3 songs I've heard so far. I especially enjoyed hearing "She Sleeps
Tight" -- it had a pop sound that I was not expecting. Not that I
pretend to know what the main stream wants, but I think that it has
"airplay", if not "single," written all over it.
We're pretty much thinking the same thing, at least on a local level.
Sandy says a single needs a "b" side to do it right, so we wrote
"Ashes & Justice" last night, which is coming along pretty nice, also.
The fun thing would be to go the Beatles route and have a double "a"
side single. I jest in comparing us to Beatles, O'course... we sound
more like the "Paint It, Black" Stones.

Thanks for having a listen and throwing some good commentary at me,
George... gotta make this quick, I'm running late for the Sunday night
Ladonia show... on the deck, under the stars! See y'all back here,
soon.

Poor recording, lacking any heart and enthusiasm and very amateurish
to say the least.

Here is a band I recorded in one take then mixed down. You'll notice
the quality of the end product. Be sure to listen on a decent set of
speakers and not some junk you bought at Walmart.

Here is a sample vid of my studio control room. I made it for the
alt.guitar fuckheads. 4 minutes or so long.

http://s273.photobucket.com/albums/jj220/meatplow1/Mackie/?action=view&current=CIMG0556.flv

The sound isn't great because the vid was taken with a still picture
camera that also takes videos (Casio Exilim EX-Z1050) but it will do
because the reason of the vid wasn't the sound.

You see I've had this problem with people like yourself dissin me
because I haven't made a fucking video and posted it. I don't have the
time to sit the fuck around and compose music but I sure can record
and produce an album.

Well, I'm just a listener, when it comes to music, but the first song
that came to my head, simply because of Mallard's guitar sound (not
the tune, just the sound, if you know what I mean) was the Beatles'
"And your Bird Can Sing." Of course that prejudices me: I still
remember hearing that as a lad and thinking it was the best guitar I'd
ever heard. (Of course, I'd never even heard of Hendrix or Clapton
back then.)

I just had an idle thought; if you and Mallard are producing the
track, you should probably give yourself a name. "The Duck Bros."
would be a good one, being (in your case) an in-yr-face to a few
people.

would be a good one, being (in your case) an in-yr-face to a few

Exactly... and it turns out that a couple of the 140 known variations
of the name "Dockery" are exactly what these Usenet pranksters use to
try and insult me... but as I've said before, I'm fond of ducks, as
well as most any of God's creatures... although I more respect the
rattlesnakes and cottonmouths rather than hold them in fond regard.

As I wrote elsewhere:

Little Victoria
stepped on a bumblebee,
near the sawmill millhouse.

Cousin Maxwell
saw it while sitting in a tree,
on the hill
across from Uncle Grouse.

Near the house of
Bullethead & Shorty...
Always late, never home,
they's a fighting,
they'll get home the best they can.
With some luck and
a Southern wind.

Shorty's chasing Bullethead
with a frying pan
full of chicken bones.

Jerked wire
someone tried to call the cops
on the telephone.

Sort of in the backyard
of the old waterpump house.
Near the canepatch,
Miss Crenshaw's creeping like a mouse.

She said some odd words,
seen them spit right out her mouth.

Everybody's watching television,
or Miss Crenshaw's hipshake.
She's a stroller in technicolor
up and down a dirt avenue
for goodness sake.

If you need a girl
you can converse...
She's a good listener
and she ain't quite loud!
But a looker in a crowd.

On a two stooler bike,
somebody easing down the path.

Near the house of
Bullethead & Shorty...
Working late at the mill again.
Scoop the sugar with cabbage,
wash it down with cold gin.

Never sure when the morning starts
or where it ends.

I recall a bit later,
when she shook her peaches for me.
Shady silver leaf maples,
and a lonesome persimmon tree.

Full moon and hay fever
schoolhouse looking like a Sphinx.
She's a sweetie,
her hair's like a chestnut minx.

Everybody's watching television,
or Miss Crenshaw's hipshake.
She's a stroller

Miss Crenshaw
What's the matter with Alice?
She seemed to be doing fine the last time I spoke with her.

Sorry, that's not what I meant. You used to have Alice in the title;
now you don't. I was wondering why the change. I think 'Alice' alone
makes a good title for that piece.

It's a personal thing, but Crenshaw makes me think of a melon. Miss
personifies it, but doesn't really kick the piece off properly for
me. I'm still working on the melon midway through your poem. Alice
has all sorts of other associations for me; people I know, songs I
remember. It gets my mind working, searching for relevant connections
between the title and the text.

"Crenshaw" is a bit difficult to pronounce, or awkward, I've found in
reading it aloud.

I think I'll retool this one a bit... thanks for the feedback, really.

You're welcome.
The feedback is becoming even more valuable, as this is one I'm
tossing back into the arena with Brian Mallard & new Shadowville All-
Star guitarist Rusty Wood (you met both at Doo-Nanny, of course), for
a snappy sound. Rusty's got a lighter more 1980s pop sound that I
think will work well with this, which is looking very much like
"Alice" now.

Miss Crenshaw

Little Victoria
stepped on a bumblebee,
near the sawmill millhouse.

Cousin Maxwell
saw it while sitting in a tree,
on the hill
across from Uncle Grouse.

Near the house of
Bullethead & Shorty...
Always late, never home,
they's a fighting,
they'll get home the best they can.
With some luck and
a Southern wind.

Shorty's chasing Bullethead
with a frying pan
full of chicken bones.

Jerked wire
someone tried to call the cops
on the telephone.

Sort of in the backyard
of the old waterpump house.
Near the canepatch,
Miss Crenshaw's creeping like a mouse.

She said some odd words,
seen them spit right out her mouth.

Everybody's watching television,
or Miss Crenshaw's hipshake.
She's a stroller in technicolor
up and down a dirt avenue
for goodness sake.

If you need a girl
you can converse...
She's a good listener
and she ain't quite loud!
But a looker in a crowd.

On a two stooler bike,
somebody easing down the path.

Near the house of
Bullethead & Shorty...
Working late at the mill again.
Scoop the sugar with cabbage,
wash it down with cold gin.

Never sure when the morning starts
or where it ends.

I recall a bit later,
when she shook her peaches for me.
Shady silver leaf maples,
and a lonesome persimmon tree.

Full moon and hay fever
schoolhouse looking like a Sphinx.
She's a sweetie,
her hair's like a chestnut minx.

Everybody's watching television,
or Miss Crenshaw's hipshake.
She's a stroller
up and down a dirt avenue.

If you need a girl
you can converse...
She's a good listener
and she ain't quite loud!
But a looker in a crowd.
