I may be in the wrong group for Christmas music, but the only one I
found deals is for Christmas sounds, and not lyrics.

When my brother and I were in elementary school, a christmas song came
out about a dog named Snowball. It came out in the late 60's to early 70's.

Two children, a boy and a girl were way too excited about what Santa was
going to bring them for Christmas, to pay any attention to their dog,
Snowball. He became upset and ran away from home.

The children became upset and began to cry, and then decided all they
wanted for Christmas is for Santa to bring their dog Snowball home.

I believe he found Snowball on the side of the street, and brought him
back home on Christmas Eve.

The following is sort of what I remember as the last stanza of the song.

“At the bottom of the stairs, in a stocking, it looked like an ice cream
cone. Was a merry merry Christmas after all. Santa brung Snowball home.
Was a merry merry Christmas after all Santa brung Snowball home.

Google wasn't very helpful here. The only reference to (possibly) this
song appears on this compilation, available at

Total Gaylord Records presents Cwistmas Twee

Absolutely adorable eleven track compilation from Total Gaylord

infectious little pop songs, often reminiscent of sixties girl groups,
featuring such current American indie favourites as The Icicles, The
Diskettes, Thee Moths, etc. Definitely worth buying.

1. Meow Meow - Colin Clary
2. Snowman Song - The Icicles
3. Snowball - Spoilsport
4. Winter Fashions - The Specific Heats
5. Dear Scrooge - The Lil' Hospital

Thanks for the reply, but after checking on Yahoo, I foud a reference to
the song Snowball and the group Spoilsport, and it said it came out in
the 80's, way to late for it to be the one I'm looking for. I do
remember hearing it on the radio around Christmas time when I was in
elementary school in the late 60 and early 70's.

Thanks

Sandra

Did you grow up in the Augusta, Ga area? My sister and I think about this song every year. Radio station WGAC played the song during the time you mentioned (George Fisher?).

Mom says she remembers Austin Rhodes (current talk show host) saying there was a copy right issue.

Like you, We would love to hear this song again.
