I've done my best but that's beyond my ears abilities,
and, also, fact is every time I thought I've had got the
lyics of any Ted Nugent song I've been laughing at me
as soon as the actual lyrics'd been found...

So please, help!-)
The song 'Hammerdown' was first in Ted Nugent's
'Free for All' LP, (vocals by Meat Loaf).

I'm sure some in this newsgroup can type the
accurate eight lines or so of the lyrics in less
time than I can lick the guitar solo!

Thanks!

So, no one ever understood that song enough to be able
to write down its lyrics?
If so I feel much less alone now, but I doubt :-)

Really, I'm not kiddin' when I say my "ear to text" engine
is poor, I can't decipher what the singers are trying to shout,
even for the chorus I have the idea from the title that
they moan 'Hammerdown' but for 30 years my ears heard
'Hammer now' and still do!
And too bad the rest of the song's not included in the title... :-)

Heeeelp !

let's get two versions for the price, first the best, made by
a friend of mine whose got solid ears and loads of patience:
-------
Aww go ahead, Ted…

Beats in the street and I'm coming
Dead headed over the map
Highway trains keep on rollin'
Sneakin' right through the traps (pfff...no idea :-/)

White line
Double time
Come around with a hammerdown

Hammerdown
Hammer

Last night saw me in Detroit
Hotel bar lookin' good
Well I think we stink in the daylight
Play rock and roll like I should

White line
Double time
Come around with a hammer, hammer, hammer hammerdown

Hammerdown
Hammerdown
Hammerdown
Hammer

Thousand gigs in Chicago
Never played Delaware
There are places where I'll go
I fly by night, love affair

White line
Double time
Come around with a hammer, hammer, hammer hammerdown

Hammerdown
Hammerdown
Hammerdown
Hammer

(Sweet guitar solo...)

Last night saw me in Detroit
Hotel bar lookin' good
Well I think we stink in the daylight
Play rock and roll like I should

White line
Double time
Comin' 'round with a hammer, hammer, hammer hammerdown

Hammerdown
Hammerdown
Hammerdown
Hammer

Hammerdown
Hammerdown
Hammerdown
Hammer...
-------

and then one of my last best efforts, mostly inaccurate so
you can see the reason why I seeked help, though at least the
text sounded a bit less standard cock rock ;-)
-------
Howl! broke and p???

beating the street here I'm coming
dead hat and over the map
always treat people roaming
singing rough (every time|in your tent?~)

Wild line, no time
(hold the row with the hammer down.|
all around with the hammer down.)

that's not surreal in Detroit
old time born I can go
rocking with stinkers in the daylight
real Rock'n'Roll (like I show|I can show)

Bound to meet you in Chicago
never played neverwhere
we've a place this's where I go
a club I'm not gonna fail
...
-------

Now, only Ted and/or Meat Loaf would have a third and better version ,-)
