There is an old 50's-60's style song that I have on MP3 only so I
don't have anything but the name - "Happy Years", not the group nor
anything else. I have deciphered most all the words but there is one
phrase that I cannot make out - it goes like this:

"Pony tailed girls ...........[on a western jean] ?????"
"Now tell me what looks cuter than a gal in her teens"

The missing part sounds like "on a western jean", but that just
doesn't make sense.

I have played it at 50% speed and still I just can't make out what is
being said - if anyone has an old "Hit Parade" magazine with the words
to that song, or, if you have that record and can tell what the
missing phrase is, please respond.
